Roads To Quoz Blog

Roads to Quoz Blog In the extract from Road to Quoz, An American Mosey by William Least Heat-Moon, We read a brief description of the events that took place at Joe’s Country Store. Throughout the text which is travel writing the author goes into heavy and intricate detail about Joe’s country shack. The structure of the excerpt is in paragraph form with small breaks in between the somewhat medium-sized paragraphs. The style of the writing seems very bland in an emotive sense and doesn’t try to connect to the reader very much. The text is from a book that is written in the first person and the writing is in a form called travel writing. The form helps the reader understand why many of the things that the author writes are written in the ways they are like how the author uses words like we and I because the writing is an autobiography which means the author would be writing about events that occurred to them. Having the form be easy to understand for the reader helps the reader ...

"Shooting an Elephant" Blog

“Shooting an Elephant” Blog In the extract from the novel “Shooting an Elephant” by George Orwell, we read about a man who decides to shoot a wild elephant for what seems to be no reason at all. Throughout the whole extract, the man goes into heavy detail about everything going on in the novel for instance his gun or where he decides to shoot the elephant. The novel is structured in a way that is very easy for novice readers to understand and also intricate enough for experienced readers to go in-depth and find a deeper meaning to the text. The text is from a novel which means that it is in the form of a novel. This helps the reader understand why some things are written in the way that they are throughout the extract. The extract tells the story from the point of view of the man who shot the elephant which puts the whole extract in the first-person perspective, we know this because of the words the author uses like “When I pulled the trigger” the author uses “I”. This means ...

Usain Bolt gets first place in 100-meter dash and takes home gold. A determined-looking Usain bolt was waiting ready for the sound of the gunshot so that he could blast out from the blocks to run the 100-meter final for a chance at winning gold. Bam the race was off to a start and everyone took their first strides out of the blocks with great power it was as if there was a second gunshot when all of the racers stomped their foot to the ground to launch off of that first powerful step. In the lead at the start was Usain Bolt alongside Richard Thompson. Thompson took a small lead over Bolt at around the 20-meter mark then Bolt quickly took the lead over Thompson with his long strides after having stumbled over himself only two steps prior. All of the other racers were crammed in the back together, none being able to catch up to Bolt’s incredible lead.  At around the 75-meter mark, Bolt seemed to look over his shoulder as if to check where everyone was. After seeing how far be...
