Kiss, Marry, Kill, Gatsby Blog

 Kiss Marry Kill Gatsby Blog

Throughout the Great Gatsby, there is a multitude of twists and turns between the characters and about the character’s traits throughout the chapters. Most of the characters in the book commit deplorable acts like Tom and Daisy who both cheat on each other without each other knowing. Aside from all of the bad characters in the book, there are some good characters examples of these would be Gatsby and Jordan because they are both good people who care for others. If I were to choose to Kiss, Marry, Kill between the six characters given I would Kiss Wilson and Myrtle I would Marry Gatsby and Jordan and I would Kill Tom and Daisy.

For the first person, I would kiss I’ll talk about Wilson. My reasoning behind this choice is mainly because I am not that big of a fan of Wilson and I really didn’t like that he killed Gatsby in chapter eight. The only reason that I am sparing him the spot of kill is because of my pure hatred for Tom Buchanan and also the fact that I feel bad that Wilson was cheated on and he didn’t know about it and I also think that he was a stand-up guy until he did the whole killing Gatsby thing. I would also kiss Myrtle because I wouldn’t want to marry her and commit to a liar and a cheater and I wouldn’t kill her because I don’t think that she deserves to die just because she cheated on her husband to get a better life for herself and try to get out of the valley of ashes.

The next section is the marry section and the first character that I would choose to marry is Gatsby. The main reason that I would marry Gatsby is because I know that he would care about me if I was like Daisy an example of this is in chapter eight when Gatsby says to Nick that he loved her for her youth and vitality. He also has a lot of money and likes to do lavish acts for the person that he likes. I also think that Gatsby is a very kind-hearted person and I don’t really mind that his money came from the illegal sale of alcohol because somebody had to do it so he may as well make a lot of money off of it. The other character that I would marry is Jordan this is because she is a very cool down to earth character. I like the way she acts better than I like the way Myrtle or Daisy acts. An example of her personality is shown when in chapter one when she is described as “She was extended full length at her end of the divan, completely motionless, and with her chin raised a little, as if she were balancing something on it which was quite likely to fall. I find Jordan to be a very intriquinging and mysterious character which is why I liked her.

The final section is the kill section the first character that I would kill is Tom. I absolutely hate Tom for a multitude of reasons the first being that he is a racist which although it was more regular back in that time period is still inherently evil. An example of his racism is in chapter one when he says “Well, it’s a fine book, and everybody ought to read it. The idea is if we don’t look out the white race will be—will be utterly submerged. It’s all scientific stuff; it’s been proved.” This quote perfectly shows that he is a racist. Another reason that I would kill Tom is because he cheated on his wife for a very long time without her knowing and even other people knew about it like Jordan when she says to Nick in chapter one “Tom's got some woman in New York.” The final reason that I would kill Tom is due to the fact that he abused Myrtle and smacked her across the face. This happens in chapter 2 after Myrtle is simply saying Daisy’s name which Tom doesn’t like so he slaps her and breaks her nose. This show of pure anger and rage really put me over the edge on Tom and made this a very easy decision for who I would kill. The other person that I would kill is Daisy this was a hard decision because I don’t really hate Daisy but I like Myrtle and Jordan a lot more than I like Daisy. My dislike for Daisy really stems off the fact that she told Gatsby that she would wait for him then left once a man with more money came along. This was shown when Daisy decided to marry Tom because she didn’t wait for Gatsby I find this to be very selfish because Gatsby truely loved her.
